Missionary Service . . .

Arrived for 1st term of service in Ica, Coastal Peru: August, 1975

  • One Baptist church existed in the valley at the time - Ica pop. of 200,000
  • We started our first church plant: November, 1975.
  • God brought more ABWE personnel to Ica - Dennis Oatleys and David Stones
  • A Bible Seminary was established, which produced more workers to assist in church planting in Ica and serve elsewhere, and which has had a national Director since 1987.
  • 8 churches were planted, more are being planted even now.
  • An Association of Baptist Churches was formed, which continues to this day.
  • Our 3 children were born in Ica: Raquel, Michael, and Susanna.
  • The Camp at Chaco was turned over to national leadership by Dad (Don) Bond in 1999.

Moved to the Field of the Upper Amazon, Peru: 1988

  • Felt God leading us to assist Charles Porter in river evangelism, organizing the work, training leaders, and opening new church plants. Arrived in March, 1989.
  • God provided materials for a two-story houseboat - built by January, 1990.
  • Started visiting the 48 villages with existing works in them.
  • Organized the Upper Amazon River area into 15 Zones with coordinating churches in each, encouraging them to meet monthly in their zones for Fellowship and Edification.
  • By 1994 there were 100 works and preaching points - most of the new works started by the nationals themselves. (Jim Bowers family joined us in 1996.)
  • Usually traveled accompanied by nationals who ministered with us - hundreds of decisions for Christ in the 12 years.
  • Used T.E.E. for the training of leaders, and later started the Multi-Ministry Center in Caballo Cocha for study modules for river leaders, along with Camps, Bible Conferences, etc.
  • As of March, 2001, the work that we were doing is all being carried on by national leadership. Praise the Lord! He's able to do exceedingly beyond all that we ask or think!

Moved to the Field of Nicaragua - 2001 . . .

  • We were appointed to be the first ABWE resident missionaries to the field of Nicaragua in July of 2001, and arrived in Managua, Nicaragua (Pop. 1.5 million) on Jan. 21, 2002. Praise God for all that has been accomplished by Him since then!
  • Used of God to assist in planting two churches in Managua and to plant one more for professional people in Managua, assisted by other missionaries and Nicaraguan believers.
  • God provided for the ECC Baptist Church in Mangua to obtain their own church property and building.  They are a fully independent church since 2010.
  • God allowed us to plant a church in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, as well, from Aug., 2013, to Dec., 2018.
  • God provided for the "Love of God" International Baptist Church to purchase their own property and have a church building constructed on it, which we moved into by March, 2017.  He has also provided for the purchase of a property for the church parsonage, and the walls around the property to be built, as well as the first phase of the parsonage construction.

"To God be the Glory, great things He has done!"
